Paul had previously won big at the Detroit Autorama with his previous Roadster build in 2015 also being awarded 1st Place in the “Homebuilt Sports” class and later that year earning “Best of Show” at the 2015 Factory Five Open House.
Paul and his wife Sharon picked up 20th Anniversary Mk4 Roadster kit back in August of 2015 (chassis #8674, #003 of 20 special edition Mk4s). This would be Paul’s third Roadster build. Paul took about 18 months to build the car with several custom features including rigid strainless steel brake and fuel lines, Lizard Skin heat and sound insulation, custom black leather hide dash, door panels, and transmission cover, full powder coat sheet metal to match the Anniversary frame color, and installing a splitter in the radiator opening. The paint is Ford Red Candy 2 (code RZ) with GM Arctic White stripes and a black pinstripe by Motor City Solutions in Taylor, MI.
Paul’s custom interior work looks incredible!
Paul installed a Ford 5.0L Coyote engine with a TKO600 transmission.
Paul said he spent most of the three day Detroit Autorama show by his car answering questions about his car. He plans to get the car registered shortly so he can enjoy driving it around Michigan this spring and summer. Click here to view Paul’s build thread on The Factory Five Forum.
