The Factory Five-MotorTrend/Hot Rod Magazine project Coupe (code-named “Corkscrew”) is back from the 2024 SEMA show, and is now on display in the FFR showroom. The car was built by the Factory Five team and the crew at MotorTrend/Hot Rod in the storied offices of Hot Rod Magazine in El Segundo, CA. Pro-Builder Ron Everitt led the team during the one-week build.
About the car: Power comes from a stock Ford Performance Gen 3 Coyote engine with a Tremec TKX 5-speed transmission. Wilwood Brakes provide the stopping power and we chose to build this race-capable street car using our proven 3-link rear suspension with Moser 8.8″ Rear and 3.55 gear set. Tires are super sticky Toyo 888R’S mounted on 18″ Factory Five Halibrand Replica wheels. Paint is stunning red metallic from Mazda’s current SUV and 75th anniversary graphics were done by Jeff Dokken at MotorTrend.
An interesting fact is that this was the very last project car built in the legendary Hot Rod Magazine building in El Segundo as the media Team has since moved to a new HQ.
