David F.’s Factory Five Type 65 was completed in 2019. He is the car’s second owner as it was built through a collaboration by Coffey’s Custom Cobras of Noblesville, IN and Slate Performance Automotive from Indianapolis, Indiana.
The stunning PPG tri-coat is called Sunkist and was sprayed by Street Dreams in Trafalgar, IN. Window channels and windshield wipers were deleted to further enhance the beautiful body lines. It is powered by a Gen2 Coyote using a Ford Performance Control Pack, backed by a MT82 transmission and FormaCars short throw shifter, connected to a Ford 8.8 rear end. The car dyno’d at 409 rwhp and it weighs approximately 2,650 pounds.
Custom American Racing wheels are wrapped in Yokohama Advan tires. The fully custom interior is black Alcantara with red diamond stitching, Kirkey low back racing seats with custom headrests, and a custom dash and headliner. Engine vitals are monitored by the combination of the Android tablet in the center dash and digital gauges mounted in front of the driver. An Alpine head unit includes a backup camera and provides tunes for the rare occasion when you can actually hear it. The scream of the Coyote engine normally drowns out the music.
David says, “the car handles like a dream. This car draws a crowd everywhere it goes, and it performs as well as it looks. It is definitely one of the most exhilarating cars I have ever owned. I am proud to be its current caretaker. It will be for sale on Bring a Trailer in a few weeks. I also have a FFR MK3 and find that my wife and I drive that car more often. Time to let someone else enjoy this one .”
